Wilson 'Sun' HouseLocated on a point into Lake Leelanau surrounded by large birch and cedar trees, this house is concealed. From the lake, the broad curved porch, 5 bedrooms, theater, library and large kitchen are hidden. A single round room at the center of the house follows six columns of white oak timberframe and a seventh side of stone masonry (the fireplace). The seven sided room leads up the conical timberframed ceiling to a timber ring enclosing an oculus; a 3 foot diameter thick glass skylight to allow in the sun, the moon and the stars; each light traces the curved walls, timbers and paints light on the flagstone floor. A roof deck connects the upper levels of the two wings of the house on either side of the main circle and provides a stargazing platform for a telescope.
