Blackstar Winery & Leelanau Cheese Creamery

A space in the experiment of inhabiting a wine barrel, the white oak timberframe tied with galvanized metal straps and braces, northern Michigan renewable woods over a generally smooth concrete polished floor, a large fireplace in one corner... all contribute to an enjoyment of a sip of wine from the curved lip of a glass. Black Star Winery has won numerous awards for their Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and makes wonderful chardonnays, various fruit liquers. Although I dislike sweet wines, I most enjoy the dessert pear wine, Sirius Pear. And Leelanau Cheese has taken global prizes for their raclette cheese and everyone in Leelanau county enjoys their soft spread cheeses on a good roll of bread.
